Longtime anti-smoking activist and Lexington native Terrie Hall passed away Monday morning after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was 53-years-old. Terrie, who lived in Winston-Salem, was one of only two dozen people featured in the “Tips from Former Smokers” TV ad campaign.
Since 2005, Terrie Hall has been sharing her story: She started smoking at the age of 17 thanks to peer pressure and continued smoking for 23 years until a dentist discovered mouth cancer. Doctors discovered a tumor on her larynx and were forced to take her voice box. More recently, Terrie had been diagnosed with more cancer and was battling a brain tumor – all linked to smoking. “It was the ultimate honor,” she says for her work that is backed with faith. “God has blessed me, He blesses me every day…”
