Battle over sectarian prayer, again. Large crowds expected at Stokes County Board of Education and Rowan County commissioners meetings Monday night…

A large crowd is expected to gather at Poplar Springs Elementary School TONIGHT for the Stokes County Board of Education meeting. The school
system’s inclusion of prayer at board meetings and graduations has been challenged by Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

The Rowan County commissioners will hold an emergency session later today to discuss a lawsuit filed last week by the American Civil Liberties Union once again wanting to stop sectarian prayer before governmental meetings.  The closed session begins at 4:30pm.  NO official action on this issue will be taken until the regularly scheduled meeting at 6pm this evening.
