Largest scam of its kind: If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS…be suspicious. The caller warns that those who owe taxes must pay using a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer, or risk getting arrested. The IRS has received more than 20,000 reports about the scam. FYI: IRS officials typically first reach out by mail rather than phone.

When a student receives one or two scholarships, that’s reason enough to celebrate, right?  Chad Thomas, a senior at Booker T. Washington High School in Miami, is a man of many talents. He received 150 scholarships offers partly for his football skills and his many musical abilities – Chad plays 9 instruments. Chad has decided to attend the University of Miami where he will play football and practice his musical talents. “If I make it to the NFL that would be a blessing, but my (passion) is music”.  FYI: Chad fell in love with music as a youngster by listening to his late grandmother’s gospel CDs.

Major League price tag for a corndog?  The Arizona Diamondbacks have unveiled a new menu item at their ballpark this season…the “D-bat dog”.  According to ESPN, this corn dog is 18 inches long, stuffed with cheese and bacon and it comes with a side of fries and will cost you $25.        BTW: The first home game for the WS Dash will be Thursday, April 03…

Same cool music, same ‘red’ dog house – Twentieth Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios have unveiled a sneak peek at their new 3-D “Peanuts” movie, featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the gang. Craig Schulz, the son of the cartoon’s creator Charles M. Schulz, is overseeing the family friendly project.  The new 3-D Peanuts movie will hit theaters Nov 2015…celebrating its 50th anniversary. FYI: Charles Schultz debuted the comic strip Peanuts in 1950.

Wake Forest University is looking for a new men’s head basketball coach. Jeff Bzdelik turned in his resignation Thursday afternoon after 4 seasons at Wake. The Deacons were 17-16 this season, beating UNC, NC State and Duke plus won their first ACC Tournament game since 2007 by knocking off Notre Dame in the first round last week. The search for a new coach begins…

Tony Dungy will speak at Wake Forest University this WED (March 26).  The event at Wait Chapel is FREE and open to the public.  The Super Bowl winning coach and NBC analyst will be part of the University’s ‘Leadership Project’.  The event at Wait Chapel is FREE and open to the public.   Doors will open at 5:30pm (seating on a first-come, first-served basis).
