A Patriotic Homecoming:  More than 100 soldiers from the National Guard’s 14-52nd Transportation Company are scheduled to return to their loved ones this afternoon.   The 14-52nd  (based out of the National Guard Armory on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem) has just completed a 12-month-tour of duty in Afghanistan.  www.journalnow.com

One primate celebrating its ‘freedom’? Animal control officers are still on the hunt for an 8-pound monkey that escaped from the Wake Forest University Primate research facility in southern ForsythCountylast week.  The monkey about the size of a large house cat vanished while its housing area was being cleaned.  Seriously, Call 911 if you spot the monkey on your property…      www.journalnow.com         Call Forsyth County at 703-2490…Davidson County Animal Control at 249-0131.

Fireworks in North Carolina:  Fireworks that explode, spin, leave the ground or fly through the air…NOT legal.  Even sparklers (that are legal) can be hazardous for young children. Each 4th of July, thousands of people are injured from using consumer fireworks.  Be safe and treat any eye injury as a serious injury complete with a trip to the emergency room.
