Officials in an Alabama County have a financial mess to correct.

The local sheriff’s department mistakenly ordered 24,000 extra rolls of toilet paper.
WAFF-TV reports the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office mistakenly spent $22,000 dollars on toilet paper and another $9,000 dollars on 450 cases of trash bags.

BTW: That’s double the department’s entire janitorial supply budget for next year.
*Negotiations are underway to resolve this situation, with county commissioners suggesting they’ve got the department’s back (side).
*Officials are still trying to figure out where to store two years’ worth of TP.

And they’re also working to get to the bottom of how this happened.

Reminder: Business 40 closure set for Saturday morning at 6am

The planned closure covers a 1-mile section of Business 40 through downtown Winston-Salem between Peters Creek Parkway and Hwy 52.  The Business 40 project is expected to be completed and the road re-opened in the summer of 2020.

*The following downtown road bridges will also close at the same time: Liberty Street, Main Street and Church Street, as well as the Strollway pedestrian bridge. All of them will be replaced with new bridges.

*FYI: If all goes as planned, the road will re-open mid-2020.
