How many light bulbs do you have in your house? On average it’s about 30, and conventional incandescent light bulbs can drive up your energy bill! The newer LED bulbs (not CFLs) typically cost around a $1.00 a year to operate – a savings of $180.00 a year for the average family home. Some of the advantages: LED bulbs don’t contain mercury and instantly turn on, instead of the delay you get with a CFL bulb.

Did You Know?  If every American home replaced just one light bulb with a light bulb that’s earned the ENERGY STAR rating, we would save enough energy to light 3 million homes for a year and save about $600 million dollars in annual energy costs. Check out this Light bulb Comparison Chart:  LED vs. Incandescent vs. CFLs

Mystery Priest revealed???  The Catholic priest – who ‘appeared’ seemingly out of nowhere during a life-threatening accident in Missouri earlier this month – has come forward. Patrick Dowling, a Catholic priest since 1982, revealed on a Catholic website that he was the man who prayed over Katie Lentz, the 19 year old accident victim.  Dowling’s presence had been a mystery because officials at the scene said it seemed as if he appeared from nowhere, couldn’t be found in any pictures taken at the scene and left without anyone seeing where he went.   BTW: Dowling was on the highway because another priest had called in sick…

Construction on the ‘Carolina Field of Honor’ will begin next month. Organizers with the War Memorial Foundation are preparing to hold a ground-breaking ceremony in September at the site of the future Carolina Field of Honor at Triad Park in Kernersville. BTW: ‘Carolina Field of Honor’ will be one of the largest veterans’ memorials outside of Washington, D.C.

The family owners of Ashley Furniture will be donating a $10 million dollar  ‘unrestricted gift’ to High Point University. This is the (10th) $10 million dollar gifts given to High Point University in the past six years. Speaking of Ashley Furniture – the company, based in Arcadia, Wisconsin, broke ground in April on the latest piece of an $80 million dollar home-furnishings complex in Davie County.
