A  nationwide test of the government’s “Wireless Emergency Alert System” or W-E-A  will happen THIS afternoon around 2:18pm…

Most cell phone users nationwide will receive an alert tone on their phone and a test message that reads “Presidential Alert: This is a TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”

The will take place in two parts:

the WEA portion on our mobile phones starting at 2:18pm (Eastern)

…followed by the EAS portion on radio and TV at 2:20pm

This is the first nationwide WEA test and the fourth for the EAS. The overall test will assess the operational readiness of the infrastructure for distribution of a national message and determine whether technological improvements are needed.

Some Good News:  Medicare Advantage customers with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of N.C. will pay on average about 30% less in premium costs next year (2019).  Medicare Advantage enrollees for 2019 will receive free membership to an exercise center.
