ONE week until Christmas  –  Still have some shopping to do?  Procrastinators unite. Typically the week leading up to Christmas, stores slash prices. Hundreds of online retailers offering free shipping today (Wed).

Toy shopping marathon: Toys “R” Us will keep its doors open for 87 hours straight leading up to Christmas.  Stores nationwide will open this Saturday at 6am and remain open until 9pm on Christmas Eve.    ABC News

Connell Maynor is leaving Winston-Salem State University for the head football coaching job at Hampton University.  The Rams successful head football coach compiled a 45-6 record in four seasons, the best four-year period in the history of WSSU football.

Kinda stressful when it comes to college and exam time, but… Police say a 20-year-old Harvard University student who was dreading final exams sent in bomb threats this week. The threats caused a mass evacuation, a cancellation of tests and ultimately led to the suspect’s arrest.  The panic over exams could cost the student a maximum of 5 years in prison.

Harold Camping, the longtime radio preacher known for his doomsday prophesies, passed away on Sunday…after suffering a fall at his home on Nov 30th.  He was 92.   Camping suffered a stroke in June 2011, a few weeks after his doomsday date came and went.

Safe Reminder: Keep an eye out for deer while driving especially around dawn and dusk. According to experts:  If you spot a deer,  DON’T panic. BTW:  Guilford County had the 2nd highest number of deer accidents last year. *More than 20,000 animal-related accidents happened last year in NC. *90% of those accidents were involved deer mainly between Oct and Dec.  The Wildlife Resources Commission
