The cost of mailing a letter is going up. A first-class stamp will go up a penny to 45 cents starting on January 22. This is the first rate increase by the U.S. Postal Service in more than two years. FYI: Those ‘Forever stamps’ are looking like a really good investment.
The White House and police in Henrico County, Virginia are still investigating the theft of a truck…and not just any truck. A government truck (connected with the President’s bus trip through Virginia) containing $200,000 dollars worth of Presidential seals, podiums, sound equipment and yes even one of the President’s teleprompters was stolen from outside a hotel on Monday. The search is on for the longest married couple in the US. Worldwide Marriage Encounter, a ministry based out of San Bernardino, California, says the project is an effort to, quote, “honor the commitment of married couples and to give hope to younger couples that they can have long and lasting marriages.” The winning couple will be announced in February, along with the longest married couples from each state. British researchers were interested in understanding whether social networks and our participation in them is reflected in brain structure and function. A memorial service will be held this morning for Steve Jobs, the co-founder and former CEO of Apple. Jobs lost his battling with pancreatic cancer on October 5th. He was 56.
