October 20, 2013    The Father’s Storehouse – WBFJ Ministry of the Month for October       (Guest) Brenda Ward – Executive Director    Phone: 475-HELP   www.TheFathersStorehouse.com             Donation center: 111 Salem Street, Thomasville   one block from the BIG chair.  Volunteer opportunities:  Brief orientation on Mondays between 6 – 7:30pm. Current Needs:  Any food, perishable or non perishable, Hygiene items including shampoo, toothpaste, razors, deodorant.  Towels, sheets, blankets, good coats, all clothing but we have a shortage on kids pants and smaller men (34 waist or smaller)   Pots & pans, appliances big and small.  Nothing is sold. We are currently asking for new toys for Christmas.  FACTS:  The Father’s Storehouse has helped 3,000 referred families:  3,000 children’s shirts+  clothing items,  +3000 baby items, 6,000 ladies clothing items, 3,000 men’s clothing items, 335 sets of sheets, 550 towels, 240 blankets,  3,100 food boxes

Next Step Ministries is hosting very special event called “Unmask the Violence” on Friday, October 18th

STATS:  In homes where there is spousal violence or abuse: *child abuse is 15 times higher.    *75% of men who abuse their spouses go on to abuse the children as well.    *Women are x8  more likely to hurt their children when THEY are being abused than when they are safe. *Adolescent males who see abuse in the home are ten times more likely to abuse their future spouse than those raised in a non-violent home. *Girls who see abuse in the home are more likely to become involved in abusive relationships than those who don’t are. *75% of children (with violent behavior) come from homes with domestic violence
