History Channel’s ‘The Bible’ premiere delivered divine Nielsen ratings Sunday night, thumping all of the major broadcast shows. The miniseries’ two-hour cable network premiere was seen by 13.1 million viewers and scored a 3.3 rating among adults 18-49. BTW: That’s more viewers and a higher demo rating than any show on the major broadcast networks Sunday night and ranks as cable’s most-watched entertainment telecast this year…so far. Emmy-winning producer Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Voice, and The Apprentice) and his wife, Touched by an Angel’s Roma Downey, are the Executive Producers of “The Bible” mini-series – an epic retelling of select biblical stories from Noah to the Resurrection. The couple came up with the idea for the series based on their lifelong love of Scripture. But Downey told The Christian Post that the project itself began with prayer. Burnett, best known for producing reality shows like Survivor, The Voice, and The Apprentice, saying that the series is really about “faith and love,” and his job was to tell the biblical stories in an “emotionally, connected way.”
