“Meals on Wheels” reaches another milestone

The Governor (Roy Cooper and wife, Kristin) making a stop in Winston-Salem on Wednesday to make a ‘special’ delivery, the ceremonial 6 millionth meal from the Senior Services’ Meals-on-Wheels program, which delivers meals to needy senior citizens in Forsyth County.

The recipient: Miss Rosalie Young (age 91) who lives on Druid Hills Drive, where she has lived the past 37 years. Young, who is legally blind, has been receiving meals for three years. “I feel so blessed.”  BTW: The meal consisted of steak, collard greens, mashed potatoes, a biscuit and a fruit cup.

The Winston-Salem “Meals on Wheels” organization, established in 1962, delivers over 1,000 meals to participants every weekday. BTW: The senior population in Forsyth County is expected to grow more than 50% between 2013 and 2024 (or from 65,000 to 100,000 seniors).


Rescue workers continue to find more survivors among the rubble in and around Mexico City after Tuesday’s 7.1 magnitude earthquake. Relief organizations including CBN’s Operation Blessing is on location distributing much needed relief supplies such as water and prayer support as well.

The President of Mexico has declared 3 days of mourning following the deadly quake.


Officials say the entire island of Puerto Rico remains without power, a day after Hurricane Maria made landfall as a Category 4 storm.  Widespread flooding was reported across the island Maria is the strongest hurricane to hit Puerto Rico in more than 80 years.


President’s daughter reveals her battle with postpartum depression 

Ivanka Trump shares about life after having children to Dr Oz (to be aired Thursday).  “With each of my three children, I had some level of postpartum,” Ivanka stated.  ‘It was a very challenging, emotional time for me because I felt like I was not living up to my potential as a parent or as a (businesswoman). I had had such easy pregnancies that in some way the juxtaposition hit me even harder.’ Ivanka Trump, an advisor to the President, is married to Jared Kushner.

Two local Christian colleges are merging.  Piedmont International University in Winston-Salem and John Wesley in High Point plan to merge next June if the schools gain approval from the Trans-national Association of Christian Colleges.

*The merged school will be named Piedmont International University, but the chapel and School of Leadership will be renamed for John Wesley.

*In May 2015, Piedmont International merged with Tennessee Temple University
