Volunteers with Mission: Feet First participate in shoe fitting at WS Rescue Mission (News for Monday)

For the men who live at the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, proper footwear is not high on their list of priorities. Keith and Emily Davis (the owners of Fleet Feet Sports) are happy (and willing) to provide that service of giving back to others in need through their ministry Mission: Feet First. This past Sunday, volunteers with Fleet Feet combined their expertise in shoes with their love of charity to fit about 100 men living at the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission with running shoes. The heat that has blanketed much of the U.S. will ease up this week.  Several cities setting records for ‘high temps’ over the weekend  including the Raleigh / Durham area. No lions or tigers, just bear and monkey sightings in Forsyth County. WS Police following up on a second ‘bear sighting’ on Saturday in the  2000 block of Mallard Lakes Drive. To report a bear sighting call 1-800-662-7137   AND…officials still searching for that escaped monkey from the Wake Forest Primate Center near the Davidson – Forsyth County border.  If you see the monkey, please call 9-1-1. 

3-D movies thrill many viewers, but also make some feel sick, a new study finds. Traffic: Greensboro    Lanes on I-40, U.S. 29 to close for soil testing  Workers will begin nightly lane closures on Interstate 40 and U.S. 29 in Greensboro starting Monday so they can perform soil tests related to a future bridge replacement project.   The lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. until 4 am?. until July 25, according to the N.C.
