How about this New Year’s Resolution: Reading through the entire Bible in a year.

According to Dr. Corné Bekker, Dean of Divinity at Regent University, “it’s a response to cultural instability and a deep hunger for truth”.  This trend is reflected in Bible sales, with more than 18 million sold in 2025 (up 11% than the year before).

Sticker shock? Between early 2020 and the third quarter of 2025, home prices rose nearly 55% nationwide, according to a report from the National Association of Home Builders. The surge in home prices was driven by low inventory, high demand, and low interest rates during the pandemic. https://themortgagepoint.com/2025/12/26/after-trump-promises-aggressive-housing-reform-in-2026-heres-what-to-expect-for-home-prices/

Our verse of the day is from Colossians 3:15

‘Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.’

Wear BLUE for Human Trafficking Awareness.

Governor Josh Stein has declared January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Every year, human trafficking affects approximately 20 million people.

North Carolina has been ranked in the Top 10 (#9) in the nation for human trafficking (with Charlotte in particular being a central hub for trafficking activities due to the interstates that run through the city).

Reducing the fire risk in your home

With the cold temperatures comes an increase in the number of house fires.

Chimney fires are the #1 cause of home heating fires followed by space heaters.

*Test your smoke detectors (and Carbon Monoxide detectors) at least twice a year…

https://www.weather.gov/rnk/NCWinterWxPreparedness2024

Safety Tip: With bitter cold temperatures, many of us are using small space heaters. If so, DO NOT plug them into a power strip. Multi-plug power strips are not designed to handle the energy load of a space heater and can overheat – causing a fire hazard
